Abstract

This paper is an extension of a recently published work [1] by the authors in that the mathematical formulations and accompanying solutions in the initial work are now further investigated and applied beyond the basic case in [1]. This study deals with the determination of the values of deformation and internal loads in “semi-infinitely long” elastic beams on nonlinear continuous foundations subjected to a concentrated load or a couple load, each placed either at the beam end or at a finite distance from the end. The analyst/designer will find useful the solutions presented for each of the loading cases treated, and for a representative range of foundation characteristics. Selected tables and curves are included.
